Elizabeth Anne Beers, soprano, is quickly becoming known for her interpretation of the Puccini heroines; she has sung the
title roles in both Madama Butterfly and Suor Angelica and will be
making her debut as Magda de Civry in La Rondine in June of 2003. Ms. Beers possesses a rich and clear soprano
ideal for fulfilling the vocal and dramatic demands posed by the complex roles in her repertoire. She has recently been described
as ‘a young singer worth watching."
Though she specializes in operatic repertoire, Ms. Beers has been the featured soloist in many concerts and recitals, most
notably as the Soprano Soloist in Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis under the baton of the late Robert Shaw.
Her recent engagements have included several challenging principal roles. Her most recent appearance being the role of
Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Brevard Music Festival in the summer of 2002 in which Ms.
Beers was referred to as "Impressive," doing "particular justice to her pivotal place in the story" by the Ashville
Citizen – Times.
Ms. Beers is a graduate of the prestigious Eastman School of Music where she received her Bachelor of Music degree and
was awarded the Eastman Performer’s Certificate. She completed two years of post-graduate work also at Eastman with
a Graduate Fellowship and Assistantship.
Ms. Beers has also been seen as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni; the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro
and Lady Billows in Albert Herring among others.
